I never understood why Mercedes got in bed with Chrysler. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. However, I truly believe that Mercedes quality control was on the downward spiral.
I agree. They fixed it in a big way 2007 and newer with the S550. This was the first vehicle they produced on their own after the merger was dissolved. That's why I love this generation of S-class. They had something to prove again and they made a fantastic vehicle with the new S550 for 2007. They became Mercedes again.

mine is an 05 and when driven gently it drives just as soft and quiet as my wifes E320. people ruin these by adding a loud exhaust system.

What's more reliable this or a 335i?
I would definitely say that the G37 is more reliable than a 335i.
Maintenance is generally less expensive on an Infiniti product. German cars are generally more expensive to maintain than a Japanese manufactured vehicle. But, I would go to Consumer Reports and do your research to see which one is more reliable and less expensive to maintain. Thanks and good luck on your purchase.
